Celebration Pillows and Throws

The Roundhouse Museum pillows honoring the sesquicentennial celebration of the founding of Egg Harbor City, NJ, are available for $25.00 each. If you wish the pillow to be sent by Priority U.S. Mail with insurance, the additional charge is $9.85 for a total cost of $34.85 each. These are 18-inch diagonal pillows made of a multi-colored tapestry-type cloth by Rug Barn, a large maker of pillows and throws that can be seen in many shops and stores. The pillow features a color rendition of the Roundhouse Museum, which is identified in Old English font. Across the top of the pillow is "EGG HARBOR CITY, NJ" "1855 SESQUICENTENNIAL 2005".

The society has prepared an accompanying throw that includes historical places from the city's past. These places are the 4 corner stones of the city, its historical churches (Moravian, St. Nicholas R.C. (with the old school), Zions-Lutheran and St. John's German Reformed), the "Welcome Arch over County Road", the Renault "wine bottle", the "Pike School", Lafayette Fire House/City Hall and the Commercial Bank area from 1905. The cost of the throw is $45.

They can be purchased at the Roundhouse Museum during our normal operation hours or arrangements can be made by calling 609-965-4677. In addition, they may also be purchased at "Almost Heaven" (215 Phila. Ave., EHC). We are certain that you will be pleased with the momentos of the past.

Historical Society Cookbook

The Egg Harbor City Historical Society, through the generosity of Mr. Roy Weiler, prepared a cookbook of many local recipes and a brief history of the city. It is now in its third and final printing. Many are hand-me-down recipes from several generations of local family cooks. Good food (Schnitzel or Hasenpfeffer or Steak Diane)!!, Good desserts and snacks (German Apple Cake or Strudel)!! Good drinks (Try the dandelion wine). They are available for $8.50 at the museum, Almost Heaven (on Philadelphia Ave.). [Borders bookstore adjacent to the Hamilton Mall off Wrangleboro Road has sold out.] They can also be shipped at the cost of $2.50 per book (Total cost $11.00).
